County Bridge Fund Summary

A county bridge tax may be extended at a rate not to exceed .05 percent of the total equalized assessed value of property within the County unless increased by referendum.  The funds are placed in a separate fund called the “county bridge fund” and may be used for administering sections 5-501 through 5-504 of the Highway Code.  This tax shall be expended on bridges, culverts, drainage structures or grade separation.
