Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund Summary
Counties are mandated by State law to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). For the purpose of providing revenue from which the County is to pay its contributions required for the IMRF, the County Board levies a tax upon all taxable property in the County, at a percent which shall not exceed the amount required to produce a sum sufficient to provide all the county contributions required for this fund.
