About Judges of
Election
The County Clerk's
office needs Judges of Election to serve in 30 precincts throughout
Knox County for each election. There are always shortages in some
areas of the county.
Training classes are held at a convenient location in the county
prior to the election. Trained Judges of Election can earn up to
$120 by attending a training class and working as a Judge on
Election Day.
At each polling place there are Judges representing both major
political parties. They are responsible for the administration of
the election procedures. They verify that only qualified persons are
permitted to vote, as well as give assistance to all voters. They
are nominated by the political parties to serve and are certified by
the Circuit Court.
