Township and Municipal
Officials
This section will give
you a look at the local elected officials who serve the people of
Knox County at the township and municipal (city and village) level.
Township
Government
Township form of government was adopted in Knox County on November
6, 1849. A Commissioners' Report dated February 4, 1850,
divided Knox County into 20 townships. With the exception of
six townships (Copley, Knox, Lynn, Rio, Truro, and Victoria) the
townships corresponded to those of the 1853 Commissioners'
Report. Township organization was not completed under this
earlier election because a controversy arose concerning the type of
majority necessary for adopting township form of government. (Nov. 2, 1852)
